Spyware, you don't need it!
Advertising spyware is software that is installed alongside other software or via ActiveX controls on the Internet, often without the user's knowledge. All spyware is different, but the range of what it does can be as simple as popping advertisements up on the screen to recording all your keystrokes, logging information about the user, possibly including passwords, email addresses, web browsing history, online buying habits, the computer's hardware and software configuration, the name, age, sex, etc of the user.
We recommend getting rid of all spyware on your computer by running a removal program. The following free programs are excellent tools for removing spyware from your computer:
Please note that it is suggested to have both of these programs installed and that you use them to check for Ad-ware/Spy-ware, once a month or more often if problems are found.
Spyware Block List
Many of these programs are installed through Microsoft's ActiveX technology from web pages. To protect yourself against most of the common spyware programs, visit the following web site (http://www.spywareguide.com/blockfile.php) and install the Spyware Block List file. Download the minimal download and choose "open" when given the option. It will ask you if you want to add the information to the registry. Choose "yes" to add the blocklist to your computer.
We will continue to provide important information such as this to our customers. Please keep in mind however, that we cannot provide technical support for the programs or methods of protection mentioned above. We are simply recommending them as a solution to a problem.
